Regional Communication Specialist - inSCALE, Kampala, Uganda

Malaria Consortium works with communities, government and non-government agencies, academic institutions, and local and international organisations, to ensure good evidence supports delivery of effective services, providing technical support for monitoring and evaluation of programmes and activities for evidence-based decision-making and strategic planning. The organisation works to improve not only the health of the individual, but also the capacity of national health systems, which helps relieve poverty and support improved economic prosperity.

Malaria Consortium recently secured a five year grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to carry out operational research on ICCM in Mozambique and Uganda (the inSCALE project).

The successful candidate will provide high quality technical inputs and support to Uganda and Mozambique Country Programmes on internal and external communication around aspects of integrated community case management of sick children (ICCM) and dissemination of findings related to practical solutions to improve Community Health Worker motivation, supervision and use of data. The dissemination will be aimed at helping districts to scale up a sustainable ICCM strategy (specifically for diarrhoea, pneumonia and malaria) and promote spread of best practices and lessons learned to the rest of the two countries.

The successful candidate will have

· A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Communications, Health Communications, Journalism, or related area

· A minimum of four (4) year's experience in external communications, advocacy or journalism particulary with audiences such as government officials and development partners

· Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
